Egg causes about 4% of documented food reactions in dogs, and avoiding it is mostly a fine-print problem: egg appears in over 1,600 of our catalogued foods, usually well down the ingredient list, because egg protein is cheap, complete and digestible. Formulators reach for it constantly.
The foods below are screened for egg in every form we track: whole egg, egg white, egg yolk, albumin, dried egg product and eggshell meal. Strictly, eggshell is a calcium source carrying little protein, but a trial diet is only as clean as its strictest reading, so it is excluded too.
One thing this list deliberately does NOT exclude: chicken. Egg proteins and chicken meat proteins are different, and most egg-allergic dogs eat chicken without trouble, so chicken recipes remain. If your dog reacts to both, use our chicken-free list alongside this one, and if you are still confirming the trigger, start with our egg allergy guide.
What to Look For
Albumin and dried egg product are egg
The protein-dense forms rarely lead with the word egg on marketing copy. Every food here is checked for them by ingredient list, not by front of bag.
Chicken stays on the menu
Egg allergy does not implicate chicken meat; the two proteins are distinct. This list keeps chicken recipes, which makes it far less restrictive than most allergen lists.
Baked treats are the blind spot
Biscuits use egg as a binder the way human baking does. An egg-free bowl with eggy biscuits is not an egg-free diet.
Eggshell means checking calcium
Foods that used eggshell meal for calcium are excluded here, so verify the replacement food covers calcium another way. Complete foods do.
How We Chose These Foods
We started with the 4,315 dog foods in our database and removed every food with egg anywhere in its full ingredient list, using the same filter engine as our Food Navigator. That left 2,831 matching foods. The 100 highest-rated matches are shown below, ordered by average customer rating. No brand pays for placement. The allergy-risk score estimates how likely each food is to contain common allergy triggers, so you can weigh it alongside ingredients and price.

What should I feed a dog allergic to eggs?
Almost any protein works, since egg allergy does not implicate meat. The filter that matters is the fine print: whole egg, egg white, albumin and dried egg product, which every food on this list is screened for.
Can my egg-allergic dog eat chicken?
Usually yes. Egg proteins are not chicken meat proteins, and a reaction to one does not reliably predict the other. This list keeps chicken recipes for exactly that reason.
Is eggshell calcium a problem for egg allergy?
Rarely: eggshell is mostly mineral with little protein. It is excluded here anyway, because an elimination diet should not carry asterisks.
