The question we answer

A pet parent whose dog or cat has a health problem needs to know which of several thousand foods fits that problem. Store search cannot answer it, because it does not know what the food contains. We have put the labels of more than 7,500 dog and cat foods from 130 brands into one database, every ingredient included, so anyone can search across all of them by what a food contains and what it leaves out. Every condition page states the criteria it screened for. Every ingredient has a plain-English explainer, and every food page flags the common allergens it contains and shows where to buy it.

Retailers

Retail search is built for shoppers who already know the product. Almost none of it can take "no chicken, lower phosphorus" and return a list. We do that part, and send the shopper to you to buy. The visitor who clicks through has already picked a food, often one well down your catalog, and arrives looking for that one product. We currently link to Chewy, Amazon and Petco and are adding programs. From a retail partner we need an affiliate program or tracked links, and ideally a product feed so prices and availability stay current.

Brands and manufacturers

If your food meets the criteria for a condition, it shows up on that page next to every other food that does. Nothing else decides placement. The data comes from your label, so if a listing is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it. We are glad to hear about new products, reformulations and recalls. We do not sell placement or rankings; the ordering is automated and blind to who pays us a commission.

Pet services

A reader on our kidney disease page already knows their cat is sick. That is a different moment from a search for "pet insurance," and a better one for a service that helps with it. We have pages on insurance, at-home allergy testing and telehealth, and we are open to featuring a small number of providers where they fit the reader's situation. If you offer one, tell us what it does and who it is for.
