ItchyCody is a free, reader-supported guide to pet food. We collect very little, and this page says exactly what. If anything here is unclear, email hello@itchycody.com and a person will answer.
What we collect
Your email address, if you subscribe to Cody's Digest. We use it only to send the newsletter. The list is held by Beehiiv, the service that sends our email. You confirm your address by clicking a link in the first message, every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to be removed.
How you use the site. Like most websites we record which pages are visited, what is searched for, which links are clicked (including links to retailers), the type of browser and device used (for example screen size and operating system), the IP address of the request and the page that sent you here. A cookie named ItchyCody, and a matching entry in your browser's local storage, hold a random identifier so we can tell a returning visitor from a new one. Neither holds any personal details. We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies and reports site usage to us in aggregate.
Questions you ask CodyBot. Anything typed into the CodyBot box is saved so we can read it and improve the site. Please do not include personal details in a question.
What we use it for
To run the site and keep it working, to see which guides and tools people find useful so we can write more of them, to count clicks to retailers (we may earn a commission when you buy through our links, which is how the site is funded), and to send Cody's Digest to the people who asked for it.
What we do not do
We do not sell or rent your information to anyone. We do not run advertising networks on the site. We do not send email to anyone who has not subscribed.
Who else sees it
- Beehiiv holds the newsletter list and sends the email.
- Google Analytics processes site-usage data on our behalf.
- Retailers. When you click through to a retailer such as Amazon or Chewy, the retailer sees that you arrived from ItchyCody. What they collect from there is governed by their own privacy policy.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from Cody's Digest with the link in any issue, or email us.
- Ask us to delete your email address or any CodyBot question you sent. Email hello@itchycody.com from the address in question and we will confirm when it is done.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser. The site works without them; you will simply look like a new visitor each time.
Children
ItchyCody is written for adults choosing food for their pets. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Changes that affect subscribers will also be noted in Cody's Digest.
